1. This is a Lending Card (Credit Card), not a Charge Card This application is for the Platinum Credit Card (Lending Card), which has a preset credit limit, allows minimum payment, and accrues interest on unpaid balances. A separate Platinum Charge Card version also exists (requires full monthly repayment, no preset spending limit). Benefits are similar but the repayment structure differs — confirm the version before applying.
2. Annual Fee is Non-Waivable The HK$9,500 annual fee is charged immediately upon card approval with no spending waiver condition and is non-refundable. To assess value, add up the benefits you will actually use — dining rebates (HK$2,000) + travel rebates (HK$1,100) + lounge value + insurance + hotel perks — against the annual fee.
3. Foreign Transaction Fee is 2% Slightly higher than most Hong Kong banks (1.95%), but the enhanced earn rate through the 9X Accelerator Programme can more than offset this for qualifying transactions.
4. Points Must Be Actively Redeemed; Note Expiry Membership Rewards® points expire after 2 years and must be manually redeemed via the American Express website or app — they do not auto-convert to miles.
5. Supplementary Card Benefits The annual fee includes 2 supplementary cards. Supplementary cardmembers enjoy most dining and shopping privileges, but lounge access is primarily for the primary cardmember — guests or supplementary cardmembers typically need to be accompanied by the primary cardmember, subject to individual lounge policies.
The annual fee is a stretch: HK$9,500 is a fixed, non-waivable cost. If you cannot make full use of lounge access, dining rebates and travel benefits, the card's value will not justify the fee
Your spending is primarily local and everyday: The standard earn rate (HK$6 = 1 mile) is unremarkable for general local spending outside the 9X programme — a dedicated cashback or miles card may offer better returns
You travel infrequently: Lounge access is a cornerstone benefit — if you fly rarely, this core value proposition goes largely unrealised
You prefer simple cash rebates: The Membership Rewards® points system requires active management and redemption planning — not suited to those who want automatic, no-fuss cashback
Your everyday spending doesn't align with Amex partner merchants: Several high-earn categories are limited to designated Amex partners; spending outside these merchants earns at the lower base rate
You're looking for a low-cost entry point: This is one of the highest-fee personal credit cards in Hong Kong — those with budget constraints may prefer a no-fee or lower-fee miles card to start

This card may not suit you if:
Most of your spending is local — the base rate of HK$8 = 1 mile is relatively low
You're reluctant to pay an annual fee and rarely travel overseas — the fee is hard to justify without regular international spend
You prefer straightforward cashback — this card is built around miles, and the cash redemption rate (205 Points = HK$1) is poor value
Your monthly spend rarely hits HK$20,000 — overseas earn rate drops to HK$4 = 1 mile rather than the best-tier HK$3

This card may not suit you if:
Your annual income is below HK$600,000 — the eligibility threshold is high
You rarely travel overseas — the HK$3,800 annual fee is difficult to justify without regular international spend
You prefer cashback — this card is built around miles and lifestyle perks; the cash redemption rate (205 Points = HK$1) is poor value
Most of your spending is local — while HK$6 = 1 mile is better than PremierMiles, it still won't offset the annual fee on its own

Who Is This Card For?
EveryMile is a travel miles-focused credit card, best suited for:
Frequent travellers: Those who regularly fly, book hotels and use cross-border transport, with overseas spending as a primary category
Miles enthusiasts: Users who want flexibility to redeem across multiple airline and hotel loyalty programmes, rather than being locked into a single carrier
Existing HSBC customers: Those already banking with HSBC who can seamlessly integrate with the HSBC Reward+ App for easier rewards management and redemption
Consistent spenders: Those who can comfortably reach HK$80,000 in annual spending to waive the annual fee
Coffee, casual dining and local transport regulars: These categories earn at the preferential rate of HK$2 = 1 mile, making it easy to convert everyday spending into miles

This Card May Not Be Ideal If:
You prefer straightforward cash rebates: EveryMile rewards are miles-oriented. If you don't plan to redeem for flights or hotel points, the direct cash rebate rate (1%) is unremarkable — a dedicated cashback card would serve you better
Your annual spend is below HK$80,000: The HK$2,000 annual fee cannot be waived, making the card relatively costly to hold
Dining and online shopping are your main categories: Neither is a strong category for EveryMile — both earn only 1%, and a specialist dining or online shopping card would offer better returns
You don't use any frequent flyer or hotel loyalty programme: Without a programme to redeem into, miles accumulate without practical value
You want a simple, no-fuss card: The Travel Guru offer, lounge eligibility conditions and Reward+ App requirements involve rules and thresholds that can be cumbersome — not ideal if you prefer automatic, no-conditions rebates
You need a supplementary card for family members: EveryMile currently does not offer supplementary cards; another HSBC card would be needed for this

On standard chartered's website
The Mox Credit Card is issued by Mox Bank, a virtual bank backed by Standard Chartered. Positioned as an all-in-one card for everyday users, it is best suited for:
Digital-first users: Those comfortable managing finances entirely through an app — online shopping, food delivery, mobile payments — with no need for physical branch services
Supermarket spenders: Earn 3% unlimited CashBack at supermarkets across Hong Kong with no category restrictions, making daily grocery spending genuinely rewarding
Salary-in workers: Those whose employer deposits payroll of HK$25,000 or above via FPS into their Mox account each month can unlock 2% CashBack or HK$4 = 1 mile — a straightforward and achievable threshold
Overseas spenders and travellers: Miles mode comes with 0% foreign transaction fee, making it well-suited for overseas purchases and travel spending
Miles beginners: HK$4 = 1 Asia Mile (when unlocked) outperforms most traditional bank cards (typically HK$6–8 = 1 mile), with miles credited to Cathay accounts on the same day
Those needing flexible fund transfers: The only virtual bank in Hong Kong that supports FPS transfers using credit limit — ideal for paying rent or transferring money while enjoying up to 56 days interest-free

1. Unlock Conditions (new rules effective 2 April 2026)
The higher reward rates of 2% CashBack or HK$4 = 1 mile are not automatic — cardholders must meet ONE of the following conditions:
Employer deposits payroll of HK$25,000 or above via FPS into the Mox account each month, shown as "salary" in the Mox app; or
Achieve Mox+ status: monthly average savings balance of HK$600,000 or above
Without meeting unlock conditions, rates drop to 1% CashBack or HK$10 = 1 mile — a significant difference.
⚠ Standing instructions or self-transfers do not qualify. Only employer-initiated FPS payroll transfers count.
Honeymoon period for new customers: Automatically unlocked for the first 60 days after card approval — no conditions required.
2. 0% Foreign Transaction Fee is Miles Mode Only
The 0% foreign transaction fee applies exclusively when the card is set to Asia Miles mode. CashBack mode incurs the standard 1.95% foreign transaction fee. Switch modes in the app before travelling.
3. Credit Card + Debit Card in One
The physical Mox Card functions as both a credit card and a savings/debit card, and doubles as an ATM card. The card face has no printed card number for enhanced security.
4. Instant Approval and Instant Use
Application results are issued immediately. Upon approval, the virtual card can be added to Apple Pay or Google Pay right away — no need to wait for the physical card.
5. FPS Credit Transfers
Mox is the only virtual bank in Hong Kong that allows FPS transfers using the credit limit. Rent payments and transfers count towards cashback rewards (when unlocked) and enjoy up to 56 days interest-free. Transfers exceeding the personalised monthly limit are charged up to 2%.
6. Instalment Plans
Single transactions of HK$400 or above are eligible for "Transaction Instalment"; statement balances of HK$2,000 or above can be converted to "Statement Instalment". Repayment periods range from 3 to 60 months, with no hidden fees and real-time APR display.
Fee | Amount |
|---|---|
Spending rewards switching fee (CashBack ↔ Miles) | HK$50 per switch (waived for first switch and under specific conditions) |
Spend AutoSwitch monthly fee | HK$25/month (only charged when used) |
Cash advance fee | 3.5% of transaction amount or HK$100, whichever is higher |
Local JETCO ATM cash withdrawal fee | HK$0 |
Local Mastercard ATM cash withdrawal fee | HK$20 |
Overseas ATM cash withdrawal fee | HK$30 |
Mox Credit FPS excess fund transfer handling fee | Up to 3.5% of the excess amount |
Your salary doesn't go through Mox and savings are below HK$600,000: Without meeting unlock conditions, you're limited to 1% CashBack or HK$10 = 1 mile long-term — significantly less competitive
You need airport lounge access or travel insurance: Mox Credit provides neither — frequent travellers will need a separate travel card for these perks
You prefer in-person banking: Mox is app-only with no physical branches — not suitable for those who rely on counter services
You need a supplementary card: Supplementary cards are currently not available
Dining and online shopping are your main spending categories: Mox offers no bonus rates for dining or general online shopping (supermarkets aside) — a specialist card may deliver better returns
You don't use Asia Miles: Miles can only be redeemed for Asia Miles and cannot be transferred to other airline programmes — limited appeal for those who don't fly Cathay Pacific
